1930s Regal Model 27, The Michigan branded resonator + HSC

The sound of the Delta, Regal resonators are as much part of the rich tapestry of the blues as anything produced by National during this period. As with so many manufacturers, Regal distributed instruments under a plethora of names including this example which was distributed under the Michigan name to the UK. Peter Green used one live during the Fleetwood Mac days. This particular model is the same as a Regal Model 27.
The guitar is in good condition. The finish has escaped too much fading and though there are scratches and scrapes (more so on the sides than anywhere else) these do not detract from the overall look of the guitar.
The neck has a very chunky V profile that manages to still be very comfortable. It's been re-fretted and there is plenty of life in the current frets. It seems that originally this guitar had a 10th fret dot rather than on the 9th fret, this has been corrected, probably at the factory. The logo is still present and there are no signs of any repairs.
This guitar has a sound well, a feature designed to reenforce the body of the guitar and to focus the sound.
The hardware is in great condition showing very little signs of any wear. The resonator is in great condition and working well.
The guitar comes with a very old hardshell case.
Without the more metallic clang of a brass bodied resonator, this is still a distinctive and immediately recognisable tone with the added warmth of the wooden body. Its has a the percussive, almost reverb tank quality to the tone thats a joy to play.
An iconic sound and surely a bucketlist instrument. Grab this before its gone…
