1959 Fender Telecaster, Blonde
You can’t look away can you?! 1959 Fender Telecaster in Blonde with just the right amount of wear to make it look the coolest kid on the block. Beautiful, natural wear from decades of use and playing - a true testament to how good this guitar plays and sounds.
The see-thru blonde finish is original with a body pencil date of "8" visible in the bridge pickup cavity and all three nail holes present and correct. The finish blacklights as expected. There is evidence of red paint on the neck plate and on the back of the neck so it is likely these may have been on, or come from a different guitar at some point. However the serial number is correct for '59 and the neck has no pencil date typical of this year.
The neck is in good, played in condition with wear down to the wood, and that desirable smooth feel. It has been refretted and a new nut installed so it plays very well.
The pickguard is still flat and in good overall condition. The chrome plating on the hardware still holds most of its sheen, with the usual signs of corrosion. The electronics are correct, and apart from the conversion to post-67 wiring there is no sign that any other solder joints have been touched.
This guitar does much more than the typical Tele twang. The bridge pickup has that top end bite but it's so well balanced without any glassiness or brittleness. There is no way this guitar wouldn’t cut effortlessly through a mix. The neck pickup is one of the best we've heard, with superb clarity and a really nice, rich warmth. All three pickup positions sound super sweet and balanced and it has to be said this is up there with the best sounding Tele's we've had in a long time!
All in all an excellent looking, playing and sounding Tele with tons of character! An inspiring instrument to play. Comes complete with a correct tweed hardshell case with the earlier 50's red lining.
