Fancy a Duo-Jet but in red - read on...
An outstanding example of Gretsch’s mid-’50s craftsmanship, this 1956 Jet Firebird captures everything that made the brand so distinctive during its golden era. Finished in its iconic Firebird Red, this model combines elegant design with the lively, articulate tones that have made vintage Jets a cornerstone of rock ’n’ roll history.
This example is in excellent all original condition with a lovely original case and sounds, well quintessentially Gretsch!
This guitar features a semi-solid mahogany body with a beautifully arched maple top, delivering a warm yet defined resonance. The dual DeArmond Dynasonic single-coil pickups provide the signature Gretsch chime and bite — from shimmering cleans to rich, throaty overdrive, they’re wonderfully dynamic and expressive.
The neck has the comfortable mid-’50s “C” profile with a rosewood fingerboard and block inlays, offering superb playability. Original hardware includes the G-cutout tailpiece, arrow knobs, Melita bridge, and Waverly tuners — all beautifully aged and functional. The binding and finish show a lovely natural patina, consistent with careful use and decades of preservation with no rot at all.
A true vintage gem, this 1956 Jet Firebird not only stands as an important piece of Gretsch history but also as a remarkably inspiring player’s instrument. Supplied with its original hardshell case.
